Credit Union Art Competition 2026
Blackrock Credit Union are delighted to invite artists of all ages to get creative as the 2026 Credit Union Art Competition officially opens for entries.
This year’s theme, “World of Colour”, encourages participants to use art to explore the colours, experiences and perspectives that make our world unique. Whether inspired by nature, culture or imagination, entrants are encouraged to interpret the theme in their own way. From bright, bold landscapes to subtle moments of everyday beauty, “World of Colour” offers endless opportunities for artists to tell their stories through creativity.
For more than four decades, the Credit Union Art Competition has inspired thousands of people across Ireland to pick up a paintbrush or pencil and share their artistic talents. Now celebrating its 43rd year, the competition continues to champion creativity, self-expression and community participation. The competition is open in two categories - General Category and Additional Needs (AN) Category. Each category includes the following age groups (based on age as of 31 December 2026):
- 7 years and under
- 8 – 10 years inclusive
- 11 – 13 years inclusive
- 14 – 17 years inclusive
- 18 years and over (Adult)
Artwork will be judged on originality, artistic merit and how effectively it interprets this year’s theme.
Entries must be hand-drawn or painted, as digital artwork is not eligible. Local winners will progress to regional and national stages of the competition. Art has a wonderful way of bringing people together, encouraging us to see the world from different perspectives. This year’s theme, ‘World of Colour,’ is all about celebrating creativity in its many forms, and we’re excited to see how artists of every age and ability bring their own unique vision to life. We encourage everyone in our community to get involved and be part of this year’s competition. We are encouraging schools, families, community groups and local artists to take part and help inspire the next generation of creative talent. Entry forms and full competition details are available below.
All entries must be submitted in either A3 (420mm wide x 297mm high) or A2 (594mm wide x 420mm high) and LANDSCAPE orientation. Other sizes and portrait oriented entries will be disqualified from adjudication.
The closing date for entries is 3pm, 23rd October 2026 and all entries must be dropped into the branch.
